About Leah Roark, L. Ac., B.S., M.S. of Oriental Medicine
I grew up in Brown County, Indiana with a love of nature and organic gardening. While attending Indiana University in Bloomington for my undergrad studies i worked in the health food industry which furthered my interest in natural foods and living a healthy lifestyle. After incurring a knee injury from pursuing outdoor activities, I became dismayed by western medicine’s treatments. This is when I began researching alternative treatments for my injury and discovered acupuncture. After two acupuncture treatments my pain was dramatically decreased and within three additional treatments I was pain free and walking without a limp. This immediately sparked an interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
So I began to search for a school where I could study acupuncture which brought me to the East-West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota, Florida. After visiting the school, I fell in love with the discipline and knew this was where I belonged professionally.
I moved to Florida and Spent the next four years obtaining my Bachelors of Health Science and Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine. Upon graduation, I made the move back to Indiana. I then studied and passed my board examinations and was deemed a Diplomat of Acupuncture from the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. I obtained my license to practice acupuncture in the state of Indiana and founded Roots of Healing Acupuncture in beautiful Nashville Indiana.
When not helping patients you can find me spending time with my family and pets, collecting plants, and playing outside.
